More Hi Seoul Fest

So I made quite a bit of the festival during the 2 weekends it was happening.  It had some amazing shows.  They had activities and things going on all the time.  Everytime I walked around there was something going on to watch.  They also had really good food.  During this weekend, the last weekend, the weather was amazing.  Here are some pics of the random, different things I saw.

This is where the fireworks were the night before.

Some art display with a bunch of different things.

Neat cat statues inside one of the places.

Beautiful park where all the activities were.  Right on the Han River.

There was this huge fountain place in the middle where the kids would all play in the water.  There was food and some other kind of booths on either side.

These people were acting on stilits and the show was called "Looking Back."  They are from France.

Neat looking guy that is part of the cool layout of the park.

Beautiful flowers all over Korea.

The green show tent where I saw 2 shows.  The lines got really long to get in really early.

The first show I saw.  It was called "Soul River" and mixed a group of girls playing traditional drums and then some break dancing.  It was an amazing show.
Quick clip of a show I saw.  We weren't really supposed to record so it is crooked and quick.

This was the Bird's Parade where a bunch of Korean kids wore these bird suits and looked awesome.

I think they called this the floating theater.  A bunch of different performances were here including a preview of the break dancers. It is their video below this.

Notice they are dancing to the Pirate's theme.

These are called "The Tourists" form France.  They were really large puppet things and just walked around.

360 view of what I was seeing.

This picture is from the last weekend when we had such nice weather.

Cute character.

A guy doing a thing called "The Bed."  He was on a bike with a bed built around it looking like he was in bed.  He is from Spain.

Cool pin wheels!

Sunset reflecting on the buildings across the river.

Those black dots are all kites.

The crowd waiting for another firework show.  I did wait a long time but got tired and just went home.

This is the last of the festival when I went with Qasem to watch the parade but we never found it.  We ended up walking along the river and saw some neat things anways.

So pretty!

This was some drummers hanging in the air playing their drums with an acrobat above them.  They are called "Mobile Homme" and from France.

Here is a group of drummers accompaning the flying ones.

These were another show who walked arond and they are called "Saurus" from the Netherlands.
Another random act called "M. Culbuto" from France.  He just rolled around and was very odd.

They had a whole area to promote milk and there were even some cows and babies of course.

Now we are on our journey to find a subway to get home.  We got a little lost but saw more neat things.

A tunnel Qasem thought would take us to the other side of the road but we got yelled at for going in because I think it was for construction purposes.

A very tiny car we walked by.

On our way of being lost we did find a nice lady who spoke English and she directed us to the subway. On the way we walked by this neat wall of flowers along the road.

Just a cool looking building.
Overall the festival was a lot of fun and gave me some fun things to do.  I even liked the last day when e got lost because we saw a lot of other things.

School Field Trip

So we took a field trip with the school to Seosamneung Tomb.  This place is actually in our city and was a very pretty place.  We had the kids draw what they saw and then we played some games.  The kids even had a scavenger hunt to find pieces of paper that told them what prize they got.  They had a lot of fun and it was such a nice day to be outside.  I was in charge of Princeton class which is now my homeroom.  There are 8 kids in that class.  They are a really good class most of the time.  Pink Amy is my most challenging because she likes to talk back a little and just say no when I ask her to do something.  But you still love her.

This is from the left: Kelly, Pink Amy and Yoony.  In our van on our way to the tombs.

Pink Amy and Yoony again and then Sally and White Amy.

Tiffany.  She is so cute as is her brother who is Tron from another class of mine.

The kids sat in a large circle to do their drawings.

Harvard class with Tron looking at me!

Tim showing me his pic.

My 3 year old in American years, Andy!

Sarah from Princeton.

We then played a game like Duck Duck Goose and they love running.  This is Tron and Andy.

A crazy looking bug I found with the kids!

Claiming their prizes at the end.

To kill some time the kids could choose to do a little show infront of everyone.  These girls from my class wanted to sing "Thank you for the Music."  Singing: Sally, Tiffany, Sarah and White Amy.

It was a really fun day and nice to be out of the school and kind of having a day off from teaching.  At least for the morning.

Beginning of Seoul Fest

So I sign this sign on a subway train with a website for this festival and it is the Seoul Festival.  This event goes on for a whole 9 days and it is just a bunch of different performances and cool things.  I went with Qasem the first night and they had this show with a ton of fireworks.  There fireworks put 4th of July and New Year's to shame.  I will post more pics if I get to go to more shows but it has decided to rain here and I don't like going out in the rain.

This turned out to be a HUGE event and a ton of people showed up.  Here is trying to show you the many people and this is only one small section of the area.

Carrie's farewell dinner!

This is the farewell dinner we wnet to for Carrie.  She was a teacher at my school and this is her friend Amanda tha is really nice.  We went to this restaurant where you cook the meant and then wrap it in lettuce with some sauce and it was sooo good.  I have already forgotten the name if it.

King Sejong the Great Museum

As I was walking around I saw this huge strip down the middle of the road and it had some statues.  One of the statues is of King Sejong the great and there is a museum below it.  It was free so I went.  I was greeted by a lady who spoke really good English and she told me all the things I could do and what was offered at the museum.

Just a cute little girl playing in the water.

A musical instrument.

Pyeonjong, seot of 16 bronze bells!

Cool mugs.

This is where people got to write their names in Korean on rice paper.

You write your name 2 times and you get one and one goes on the wall.

I am sitting on a model of a throne and holding my name in Korean. The first 2 symbols are my name and the third is America.
It was a really neat place and fun to look around.  Everyone was so nice and helpful!
