I have wanted to go to Soraksan for a long time and finally I got the chance with Rachel and out friend Jean. Jean's parents have an apartment in Sokcho, right next to Seoraksan, so we went for the weekend! We headed out early Saturday morning and went straight to the mountain which was a good idea seeing it was a crazy, busy weekend. The weekends in October are so busy because everyone wants to see the leaves change. We were going to go hike to the top but at the end there is about 20 minutes of stairs but since so many people were there it would have taken 2 hours just for the stairs. We decided to just walk along some other paths and it was so beautiful everywhere! So we just walked around for awhile admiring everything!
Car ride over.
We were in traffic for quite awhile just waiting to get to a parking lot.
Jean and I at the entrance!
Welcome to Seoraksan!
Beautiful day. We again had to wait for this picture but it was a day of waiting!
Jean was very surprised about this fountain because it looked like the water came from the air but it is a plastic tube!
Look at all the people!!
Pretty trees and colors!
Me and Jean!
The please don't do these things in the National Park!
There are people at the top of this rock climbing. I was actually surprised to see Koreans doing this kind of extreme activities.
Chinese writing carved into the mountain rocks!
Cool bridge we had to cross over.
Amazing views everywhere we looked!
Hanging out in the river!
Beautiful park with awesome colors!!
Again if I see a goofy photo op I take it and made Jean join me!
Next we went to the coast and got to see the ocean which I love to see. I wish we could have stayed there and just sat in peace and watched the ocean!
I like shadow photos. Rachel and me!
I love this picture and how peaceful it looks!
Another funny photo op and it was honoring some downhill skier!
For dinner we went to a fish market and this is a fishing dock.
At the market they had squid hanging everywhere to dry out!
I really wanted to save thie octopus by buying him and releasing him but he cost 100,000 won. A bit too much for saving something.
For dinner we ate some shell fish and...
a sashimi platter of different fish!
This crab was the biggest one I have ever seen. We found out it weighed 6 kg (about 12 pounds) and was a mere $500!!!!!
Some stuffed squid anyone??
We finally made it to Jean's apartment that night and this is the next morning. The place had a view of the ocan and this is the view out of the balcony window!
The apartment had three rooms and we all crowded into the family room.
The outside of her building. Crazy big! We were on the 13th floor!
On our way back home Rachel drove us to the top of a close by mountain and it was a bit misty but made for some cool photos!
I also made Rachel stop on the way home so we could get a picture by some beautiful red leaves. The picture turned out really cute and we all look so good!
Another great weekend and we saw a lot in a little time but it was beautiful on the east coast and Seoraksan was amazing!!
