Random times

So some more random pictures from a few different outings.  I am still loving my time in Korea and I am sure I have said it before but I love how random Korea can be.  I will explain in the later pictures.

So here we went to dinner in Itaewon and it was a slightly fancier place.  So Lauren and I ordered the salmon and found it very interesting they like fried the skin or something and stuck it in the top.  Made for an interesting dish.  Was good salmon too!

Every month school has a storytelling contest where each class has memorized and acts out a play or song.  This time was a little different because we invited the parents from two of the classes.  Here is the really cute looking background designs our art teacher made.

Here is Harvard, our baby class, and they sang a cute little song about crabs.

This is Harvard class and their crab song!  You can't understand them but they are very cute!

Here is my homeroom class and this month our song was not so fun but they still did a good job.  Our song was called "In the Woods."

Now we are onto Lauren and Nic's last night in Korea and of course we went to Norebong.  We got a bigger room and the luxury one and man it was nice!!  We had 10 people this time including 4 new people to Korea!

My awesome friends in Korea and not so happy to say goodbye to Lauren but I know I will see her again!

More awesome people in Korea.  Here is a new teacher Kelley on the left, then Melissa and me.  I love Norebong and Melissa is a huge fan as well.  How can being able to sing badly and as loudly as you can be a bad time??

And on to the Pet Cafe for the 4th time.  I love this place every time and could go every weekend if I had time!  I get there and just sit and watch the dogs and wait for one to come to me and want some love from me.  This time I think I got the same collie puppy as last time but he was more awake this time and wanted to play a ton with me and the other dogs.

This guy loved to have his butt scratched!

My so very cute buddy today!

This was just a cute picture of 3 Korean girls and this dog with his head in them!

This was by far the smallest dog I have seen and we called it Popcorn because it looked like a bigger piece of popcorn and the puppy jumped a lot!

Here is what I was talking about when I say I love the randomness in Korea.  We went to frozen yogurt and when we left a parade was going on in the street.  There were these cool biker guys.

I think this group was showing some cool fighting moves.

A jungle themed group came which reminded us of Lion King.

This girl was cool!

A few different groups had weird and creepy masks.  No idea what they were trying to show or represent.

Another great weekend in Korea and I am down to 6 weeks. It has been getting sad lately though because my great friends are leaving and I hate seeing them go.  New people to meet and hang out with so making the best of it all.  I have such a busy times coming up so many more pics to come before I leave Korea!  I have Jeju, Busan and Muido again before I leave.

Swimming Field Trip

We had another amazing field trip to an indoor swimming pool and I think I almost had as much fun as the kids.  I forgot how much I really like swimming and just being in a pool.  It felt so good to be in a pool again.  There was a kiddie pool with a cool frog slide and they also had a nice lazy river. They even had some large slides that only one student in our whole school was tall enough!  So James, Julian, P.E. teacher and I went down!   In Korea everyone has to wear a swim hat and the teachers had to wear clothes over their swimsuits.  Also every kid gets to have their own tube which made life all the more exciting.  I felt bad for the boys because Nic and Julian had to take care of 20 boys on their own keeping track of suits and tubes, getting kids rinsed off, dried, and dressed.  I was extremely lucky and only had to keep track of my three MiT girls: Yejee, Sunny and Christina!  Here are some pictures from the trip and everyone having so much fun.

Olivia and Dorothy

I know you aren't supposed to have a favorite student but Yejee is by far my favorite.  I really want to bring her home to America with me but I am sure I would get in trouble!!

Another student of mine, Eric.  He is always the happiest kid and smiling.  You have to be careful though because when he does start laughing it can be hard to get him you stop!

Luke having a good time!  he had to hold my hand to go down though!

Little, little Leo giving the slide a go!

Tony relaxing

Our P.E. teacher in the lazy river with some kids!

Tracy's turn in the lazy river!

Here I am in the river and the student Cathy was with me and she was a little scared and would not let go of me the whole two times around the river.

Happy Leo

So cute Lehyun

Rachel and Lucy

Stephen having a grand time splashing.  He could splash you all the time but if you got him the tears came full on!

Awesome time and very tiring day.  Even after the trip was over and the kids went home, we had a whole afternoon of elementary classes!!  It was a long, long day!

Muuido Island

So for the Fourth of July weekend and Qasem's last weekend we all went to Muuido Island.  This island is off the west coast of Korea and very near Incheon.  We had an amazing time and the best day ever.  We arrived early Saturday morning and then spent the night.  Nic and Qasem really wanted to camp so they stayed in a tent and Lauren and I got a small room just to sleep in.  Here are some pictures of the amazing weekend!

The ferry ride from the mainland to the small island.

The girls all ready for fun!

Qasem so happy to be going camping and fishing!

On the ferry people buy chips and feed the seagulls as we go.  The whole ride was only about 5 minutes!

This lady just successfully fed a seagull and safely!

Just exploring the ferry.

Made it to the other side and they had some really neat looking fishing boats.

Buying some last minute supplies!

My new Korean friend who wanted to just talk about our plans and his for the weekend.  he was headed for a hike up a mountain for the day.

Almost ready to take the last leg of the trip.

So excited

Finally at the beach and scoping out a camping spot.  Such a nice day.  It was warm with cloud cover and not many people at all.

The Hyatt at the beach!  I found this really funny.

The spot.

So the tide at this beach goes out really far during the day and then comes in for a little at night and goes back out later at night.  A very popular thing to do here because of this is to go clamming and then cook what you find.

Doing some exploring while camp is being set up.

Cass

The wild men and the wood they found for our camp fire.  When we first saw the guys come around the corner with all this wood it looked like they had a dead Christmas tree and we wondered where the Christmas lights were.

The boys needed some rocks for the fire so Lauren, Cass and I went scavenging for rocks.  Of course we had to take some fun pics along the way.

Introducing Cass to the great outdoors!

Some random, huge blue bin we walked by.  So of course I want to get inside.  Don't worry.  There was a big hole in the back.

I can really jump!

Lauren attempting a hand stand I was supposed to hold her legs but did not go so well.

Camp is ready.

This is a Korean lady clamming.

Qasem joined in and so did I.

Clamming involves a lot of mud and you get very messy.  Our feet after.

Headed out again with more people.

First we had to cook and eat some of the clams we caught before.  I actually tried one and it was pretty good!

Having an awesome time looking for the little clams.

We got quite a lot.

Vineyards were at the entrance to the beach area.

Random shoes on the beach.  Only one of each and no pairs in site.

It was out fourth of July weekend and goodbye Qasem so we had to have fireworks.  These are sparklers and they make for the coolest pics.

E for Erin!!

Fireworks

Now campfire time.

It did finally begin to rain on us later so we got to put on our very fashionable ponchos!

Finally time to go home and it was raining nice and hard.  Here we finally bought our own chips and wanted to feed the seagulls.  It is actually very scary to hold out a chip and some bird is supposed to bite the chip and not you.

My feeding the seagulls and I fed quite a few of them.

Lauren was a bit nervous but when she closed her eyes she finally fed one.

Since the tent the boys had was not so much water proof they did not sleep so well.  here is Nic passed out tired on the bus back home.

We had an awesome weekend and I love how in Korea you can take these small vacations on a weekend.  It is so easy to get places in Korea and so many places to go it makes for nice mini vacations and getting out of the city.  The time has come where the people here are going home because their year is up and Qasem is the first to go.  Going to be sad to see everyone go their different ways but it means more adventures are to come for us.  As for me I still don't have much of a clue what I am going to do but I have a couple ideas.  I also have 8 more weeks to think about it!
